Planting Day

One spring morning, five little seeds were planted in a garden bed.

There was Sunny the Sunflower Seed, tall and cheerful.
Carl the Carrot Seed, who loved exploring.
Tessa the Tomato Seed, round and friendly.
Pip the Pea Seed, tiny but mighty.
And Stella the Strawberry Seed, sweet and patient.

They snuggled into the dark, cool soil, ready for their big adventure.

Feeling Lonely

At first, the seeds felt a little lonely in the dark.

"Hello?" called Sunny the Sunflower Seed. "Is anyone there?"

"I'm here!" squeaked Pip the Pea Seed.
"Me too!" said Tessa.
"And me!" added Carl and Stella together.

But they couldn't see each other very well in all that dark soil.

The First Song

Sunny had an idea. "Let's sing!" he said. "Then we'll know we're all here together!"

And he started to hum a cheerful tune:

His voice was warm and golden, just like sunshine.

Seeds Join In

One by one, the other seeds heard Sunny and joined in!

The underground didn't feel dark and lonely anymore. It felt like home!

Earthworms Arrive

The singing attracted some friendly visitors!

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle! Pink earthworms came tunneling through the soil.

"We heard your beautiful song!" said the earthworms. "We'll help loosen the soil so you can grow!"

They wiggled all around the seeds, making the earth soft and comfortable.

"Thank you!" sang the seeds together.

Rain Comes

High above the garden, friendly rain clouds heard the singing too.

"What a lovely song!" said the clouds. "We'll give you water to drink!"

Pitter-patter, pitter-patter!

Gentle rain began to fall. The water soaked into the soil and reached the thirsty seeds.

"Ahhhh, that's refreshing!" said the seeds, drinking happily.

Sprouting Begins

Days passed. The seeds kept singing their song and waiting patiently.

And then... something amazing happened!

Tiny green shoots began to push up from each seed.

"Look!" cried Sunny. "We're growing!"
"I can feel my roots stretching down!" said Carl.
"And my stem is reaching up!" added Tessa.

Up, up, up they grew, toward the light above.

Breaking Through

Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!

One by one, the sprouts broke through the soil into the sunshine!

"We made it!" cheered the sprouts as they felt the warm sun on their tiny leaves.

The sun smiled down at them. "Welcome to the garden!" it said.

The seeds kept singing their song, even happier now.

Growing Strong

With sunshine, water, teamwork, and patience, the five friends grew and grew!

Sunny stretched tall toward the sky, his big leaves reaching wide.
Carl's bushy green leaves grew thick and strong.
Tessa's vines began to climb and twist.
Pip's delicate tendrils curled and danced.
And Stella spread low and wide, her leaves making a soft green carpet.

Bees buzzed by to visit their flowers. Butterflies stopped to say hello.

Each day, they sang their song together, remembering how they started.

Beautiful Garden

Before long, the garden was full of life!

Sunny bloomed into a magnificent sunflower, bright yellow and tall.
Carl grew into a big, crunchy orange carrot (with his green top still showing).
Tessa ripened into plump, juicy red tomatoes hanging from her vines.
Pip grew sweet green peas, snug in their pods.
And Stella became a lovely strawberry plant with perfect red berries.

Birds came to rest on Sunny's tall stalk. Bees buzzed happily from flower to flower. The whole garden was alive with friends!

The five friends looked at each other and smiled.

"We did it!" they sang together. "When we work together and wait patiently, we all grow strong!"

And every season after that, they sang their special song.
